Collage Enthusiasts of Lansing!!

This month we are meeting on Wednesday August 12th from 6pm-9pm at Hooked.

If you’re new here, welcome! Just show up and everything will be provided. If you’re a planner, here are some helpful things you may want to bring for the 2nd Wednesday of each month:

Snack energy: Hooked offers coffee, alcohol and many snacks for purchase, and their staff is very kind to host us each month.

Scissors: We have a few pairs of nice scissors (and a lot of cheap ones). ✂️

Community resources like flyers, zines, or whistles. Promotion for your own art events. Just check in with me first before distributing.

Note: This space is held for Lansing creatives to be together in an uncensored way, discuss whatever comes up, or just relax together. Collage Club is not designed for kids.

I am having a show!

My very own solo collage show is (soft) opening this weekend during the Renegade Theatre Festival in REO town!

I will have about 10 new pieces of art on exhibit and available for purchase, and a few big ol’ pieces on display, just for fun.

The show will be up for three months, but please mark your calendars and plan to join me on Saturday, Sept 19th from 3-5pm for an artist reception. I will do a short artist talk around 3:15pm, and I am hoping to do a little drop-in collage poetry activity throughout.

The reception is concurrent with Lansing Lit, a weekend literary festival celebrating all things bookish in our area. What a treat! Even though this is a solo show, I am really indebted to our awesome community for inspiring me to make it happen. Thank you SO MUCH for being a collage person. In the spirit of interdependence, please let me know if you would like to be one of my people at this event, and help by making a little art at a table with attendees, or perhaps organizing some snacks and wine? ❤

Ann Arbor Art Center Call for Art Groups

The Ann Arbor Art Center has issued an open call for Michigan Art Groups to exhibit in 2027.

Hey, that’s us!

I am hoping to put together a kick ass, undeniable application in the next month. Let me know if you want to help. I’d like help with brainstorming a theme for the show, maybe something to do with Lansing, or something seasonal… or something weird. Something exciting an interesting that speaks to us and will excite the A2 crowd.

Send me your musings, and let me know if you’d like to contribute images in process or sketches to help the gallery understand our vision… as soon as we come up with it! More about the call.

Collage COVEN at Tiny Bit of Wood

We have launched an off-site group on the Third Wednesday of each month at Tiny Bit of Wood in Lansing.

Collage COVEN is a monthly meetup capped at 15 people. It is a relaxed, art-focused experience in an intentional space. Campground rules apply, and no food or drink are provided. You bring all of your own supplies and show up as the artist that you are.

We are paying rent to support Megan’s community shop, so tickets are required, and cost $10-$20 depending on your capacity and interest. The COVEN is not promoted publicly and is invite-only. Consider this your invitation. 🙂

Mini Conference in Whitehall

This year I am returning to my favorite little corner of the northern Muskegon area for a one-day “mini-conference” called the Art of Sharing. I am teaching two workshops, and thanks to a grant, they are only $5 each or $10 for the day. I would be happy to bring anybody that wants to check it out, I have space for 3 in my car and it’s going to be fun!

One More Thing: Oh My God, One-Time Collage Club Participant Will Lawrence Won The Primary!

I’m not crying, you’re crying.

This isn’t a political group, but it’s my group, so I’ll say this. I like William Lawrence. And as much as I like him, I hate Tom Barrett 1000x more. Out of 1000 reasons to hate him, here’s my #1: He is an anti-abortion extremist who ran on the platform “100% Pro Life, No Exceptions.” Tom Barrett – EMILYs List
